More Settings

Select Ephemeris -> More settings from the main menu. The appearing Settings dialog allows the following settings:

Magnitude calculation: The calculation of apparent magnitudes of the planets can be performed using three different sets of formulas: G. Müller (AA until 1984), used in the Astronomical Almanac until 1984. AA 1984, used in the Astronomical Almanac since 1984. AA 1992, based on coefficients in tables 7.41.1 to 7.47.1 of the Explanatory Supplement to the Astronomical Almanac (1992), which differ slightly from those of 1984.

Azimuth measurement can be set from the south point of the horizon, used in astronomy, or from the north point, used in navigation. When topocentric horizontal coordinates are selected in ephemeris types, the azimuth setting S (south) or N (north) is shown in status bar.

Apply correction: When boxes are checked, corrections are applied to the ephemeris computations for the Moon and the Outer planets, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. The corrections are discussed and illustrated in Accuracy.
